About Me

I am a 32 year old wife and mother to two sweet, healthy, vibrant, handsome (if I do say so myself!) little boys and a sweet baby girl. There is nothing more important to me than the health and well being of my family. It is a priority to give my children the best possible start. I know I will not be able to control their eating habits when they get older, but I am committed to give them a good foundation. For us, this is locally grown (when available) organic, grass-fed, free-range, nutrient-dense and above all - REAL food. I make our meals from scratch as much as possible.

I love to cook, and I love to eat! My husband and I are both half Italian and we just like good food. I want to make simple, delicious meals that absolutely anyone can follow. Informative pictures and easy instructions make it simple. It is not as hard or as time consuming as most people think. If I can inspire anyone to make just one (and hopefully more!) healthy, homemade meal each week I would be a happy woman. Even small changes can make big differences. I hope to show people that they can do this!

We have become a society of convenience and we are suffering the health consequences. Any step in the right direction is worth the extra effort. When I was 18 I moved far away from my family and was living on my own. My once good health was now a disaster. I came from a healthy eating household. On my own, I was eating junk. Fast food, cheap food and convenience food. I look back and cringe. I was sick all of the time, tired and depressed. I was gaining weight and soon overweight. My health took a turn for the better in my mid 20's when I relocated to be close to my family. I finally listened to the health wisdom that my mother had been trying to teach me for years. I lost weight and my health improved. Since then I got married and had three children in a very short time span (3 kids under age  5!) and was nursing. My weight has been significantly up and down since then because of it. Now that I have completed my childbearing and nursing days, I am resolute to maintain a healthy weight and healthy lifestyle. Not only for myself, but for the sake of my family. Each day I am learning more about nutrition and trying to implement it into our lives. I am absolutely not perfect, it is a day by day journey - I hope you will join me.

I have tagged the dishes and hope that even if you have a food allergy or limitation that you can enjoy this food. Some of the keywords are Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Grain Free, Primal (in this case I have included dairy in these recipes, if you do not eat dairy you can look under Dairy Free), Low Carb, and Vegetarian. None of my recipes include refined sugar or fake sweeteners. I sparingly use honey, maple syrup and stevia. For cooking on heat I use only coconut oil and butter. (Article about why is coming soon). For dishes that are not heated I also use olive oil.

I hope you enjoy my blog, I am new at this and hope to be learning and improving all of the time. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment under the recipe or you can email me. Thank you so much for looking, please feel free to forward this blog to anyone you think would like or benefit from it.
