My philosophy is very simple (and the finer details are always changing):
- Cook from scratch as much as possible.
 - Eat real food.
 - Eat whole foods, prepared traditionally.
 - Eat the highest quality meats and produce that you can afford. (Organic in my home)
 - Avoid anything processed or refined.
 - Avoid trans fats and hydrogenated oils.
 - Avoid refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup.
